Who would have imagined that my first fitness industry job at Court House Fitness in the spring of 1987 would have been the catalyst to a 27 year career in the fitness industry. In 1992 I opened my own facility as the owner and operator of Fitness Essentials. As Fitness Essentials grew we decided to incorporate in 2005 and since that time my role as remained the same: engage, educate and equip.
Impacting the lives of others has always been a great passion of mine. Regardless of my title, I actually work in Customer Service – realizing that my ability to engage, educate and equip every single client over the years has been the corner stone of the success we have experienced at Fitness Essentials.
Believe it or not, Fitness Essentials does not define Dean Costales. It’s a huge part of my life, but there are many other meaningful things that make up who I am and whom I feel called to be. I am also….

A husband. I have been married to my wife Katrina for fourteen years.

A dad. I have three amazing kids who all are successful, energetic and mean the world to me.

A musician. I play the drums and spent many years playing professionally in the wee hours of the night at jazz clubs up and down the west coast.

An athlete. I enjoyed playing baseball and hockey in my youth and had an opportunity to continue playing baseball in college. A few half marathons, marathons and adventure races have created some sore muscles throughout the years. As an adult I continue to enjoy playing hockey and soccer.

A coach. I have a passion to see younger adults learn and hone their skills on the field of play. Tennis, basketball, hockey and soccer are just a few sports I have enjoyed my role as a coach and mentor to others.

A volunteer. I have spent many an hour swinging a hammer, trimming trees, painting walls along with other duties to help our church, our neighborhoods, our community's and our mission fields become a better place to live, eat, and rest.
